MATERIALS:

US I/9 5.50MM Hook (mine was an inline Susan Bates) (This is for a teen to adult women – for smaller sizes go down to as low as a F-Hook for a 1 to 2 yr old and a G-hook for a toddler, an H-hook for a preteen)
Yarn Bee – Soft Secret  – Color: Honey Maple [#4 WW – 4  oz./247 yds. skein] (Approximately 2/3s of skein was used)

Enough Weed Eater (Lawn Trimmer) Line size .080 or .095 to go around outer edge of brim to stiffen it.

SPECIAL STITCHES:

Beginning V-Stitch (BV-st) Ch4, dc in same st or sp as indicated.

V-Stitch (V-st) dc, ch1, dc in same st or sp as indicated.

Small V-Stitch (SV-st) hdc, ch1, hdc in same st or sp as indicated.

Rnd 1 – Ch3, *dc in 3^rd from hook, ch1*, repeat between the *s 5 times, join with a sl st into the top of the first dc. (6dc, 6ch1 sps)

Rnd 2 - Ch2, 2dc in same st, *ch2, 2dc in next dc* repeat between the *s 4 times, ch2, join with sl st in top of first dc. (12dc, 6ch2 sps)

Rnd 3 – Ch2, dc in same st, ch2, dc in next dc, ch2, dc in ch2 sp, ch2, * dc in next dc, ch2, dc in next dc, ch2, dc in ch2 sp, ch2*, repeat between the *s 4 times, join with sl st to top of first dc. (18dcs, 18ch2 sps)

Rnd 4 – Ch2, V-st in same st, V-st in each dc around, join with a sl st into the top of the first dc. (18V-sts)

Rnd 5 – Ch2, V-st in first dc of first V-st, V-st in second dc of first V-st, V st in ch1 sp of next V-st, * V-st in first dc of next V-st, V-st in second dc of same V-st, V st in ch1 sp of next V-st*, repeat between the * around. Join with a sl st into the top of the first dc of first V-st. (27V-sts)

Rnd 6 – 12 – Sl st into Ch1 sp of first V-st, BV-st in same sp, V-st in ch1 sp of each V-st around. Join with a sl st into the third ch of the BV-st. (27V-sts)

Rnd 13 – Ch1, sc in same st, sc in ch1 sp of next V-st, sc in next dc of V-st, *sc in 1^st dc of V-st, sc in ch1 of same V-st, sc in 2^nd dc of same V-st, * Repeat between the *s around. Join with sl st into the first sc. (81 sc)

Rnd 14 – Ch1, sc in front loop of same st, sc in front loop of each st around. Join with sl st into the first sc [through both loops]. (81 front loop sc)

Rnd 15 – Ch1, 2hdc in same st, 1hdc in each of next 4 sts, * 2hdc in next st, 1hdc in each of next 4 sts, * Repeat between the *s 14 times, 1hdc in next (last) st. Join with sl st into the first hdc. (97 hdc)

Rnd 16 – Ch1, SV-st in next st, * skip 2 sts, SV-st in next st, * Repeat between the *s 30 times, skip 2 sts. Join with sl st in top of first hdc of the first SV-st. (32 SV-st)

Rnd 17 – Ch3, hdc in same st as joining [counts a first SV-st], SV-st in ch1 space of next SV-sts, *SV-st in space between this and next SV-st, SV-st in ch1 space of next 7 SV-sts, * Repeat between the *s around 2 times. SV-st in space between this and next SV-st, SV-st in ch1 space of next 4 SV-sts. Join with sl st in 2^nd ch st of first ch3. (37 SV-sts)

Rnd 18 – Sl st into ch1 space of 1^st SV-st, ch3, hdc in same space [counts a first SV-st], * ch1, SV-st in ch1 space of next SV-st, * Repeat between the *s 35 times, Ch1. Join with sl st in 2^nd ch st of first ch3. (37 SV-sts – 37 ch1 spaces between SV-sts)

Rnd 19 – Sl st into ch1 space of 1^st SV-st, ch4, dc in same space [counts a first V-st], * V-st in ch1 space of next V-st, * Repeat between the *s 35 times, Ch1. Join with sl st in 3rd ch st of first ch4. (37 V-sts)

Rnd 20 – Sl st into ch1 space of 1^st V-st, ch4, dc in same space [counts a first V-st], V-st in ch1 space of next V-st, ch1, * V-st in ch1 space of next 2 V-sts, ch1, * Repeat between the *s 16 times, V-st in ch1 space of next (last) V-st. Join with sl st in 3^rd  ch st of first ch4. (37 SV-sts – 18 ch1 spaces)

Rnd 21 – Ch1, sc in same st as join, sc in ch1 space of same V-st, sc in next 2 dc, sc in ch1 space of V-st, sc in next dc, sc in ch1 space, *  sc in next dc, sc in ch1 space of V-st, sc in next 2 dc, sc in ch1 space of V-st, sc in next dc, sc in ch1 space, * Repeat between the *s 16 times, sc in next dc, sc in ch1 space of V-st, sc in next dc.  Join with sl st into the first sc. (129 sc)

Rnd 22 – Ch1, hdc in same st as join, hdc in each st around,  Join with sl st into the first hdc. (129 sc)

Rnd 23 – Ch1, [While holding Weed Eater Line on top of stitches – with 2 inches past the ch1), sc in same st, sc in each st around. (Making sure to overlap the Weed Eater Line at least 2 inches)  Join with sl st into the first sc. FASTEN OFF Weave in ends.
